What is the Difference between Traditional Classrooms and Digital Classrooms?

Traditional classroom

The traditional learning and schooling experience needs the students to attend the classes in person and on campus. It actually makes sense to attend the classes in person if you are really deciding to live in the dorms or are an incoming freshman who desires to have a real college experience. There are of course, many more opportunities to explore like joining the clubs, associations or fraternities or sororities while taking classes on campus. Additionally, you will also need help from guidance counselors and professors who are readily available on campus. Traditional or conventional classes are always deemed a better choice for the students who aren’t quite savvy with the technology or who love interacting with the faculties face to face. Besides this, there are majors that need more on the job training during class like:

  1. Automobile Mechanic or Technician
  2. Computer Science or Engineering
  3. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Technician
  4. Nursing

Digital classrooms

The digital classrooms or the flipped classrooms or the blended learning or the smart classroom is referred to the technology enabled classroom where students learn and interact with the educator of Smartclass by Robotel and the peers are fully supported via the strategic use of the information and communication technologies or ICTs. Now as these terms are still not fully defined, they are still used inaccurately so be aware of the same. The flipped classroom is referred to as a learning model where the students get instructions online and apply their new knowledge in their classroom with their peers. Blended learning is a combination of face to face instruction and online instruction; the latter is provided by social media, online learning platforms, systems and tools.  Students collaborate under the guidance of instructors for the application of their new learning to the complex systems.

When it comes to the education from school to the post secondary, the digital classroom has expanded to a wide range of processes and may include digital tools as a part of the learning space. This may or may not include digital archives, remote access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) and infrastructure access, access to better education etc. The digital classroom is deemed to be a virtualization of classrooms where virtual and immersive tools are components of learning structures and the methods related to learning. This is not always the case, but it is dependent on the authors and the educators who have their very own personal definition of the term.
